A expressão arquitectónica deste edifício e o seu reconhecimento no contexto da cidade de Abrantes associadas à localização, na envolvente próxima exterior da muralha do Castelo, reforçam a sua particularidade. Consideram-se ser estes os principais atributos que valorizam este edifício no contexto sociocultural. Procurou-se que a intervenção se integre nessa realidade, numa perspectiva de restauro, reabilitação e actualização tecnológica, de acordo com a nova função a instalar no edifício: um núcleo museológico do espólio doado pelo escultor Charters de Almeida à autarquia.

The architectural expression of this building and its recognition in the context of the city of Abrantes, associated with the location - in the near external surroundings of the Castle wall - reinforce its character. These are considered the main values of the Carneiro building regarding the sociocultural context. It was sought that the intervention be integrated in this reality, considering its restoration, rehabilitation and technological updating, according to the new function to be installed in the building: a museum for the sculptor Charters the Almeida collection.
